About Us

WOJO Marine LLC is owned and operated by Joseph Christopher (Chris) Wojcieszak. Chris was born and raised on the Treasure Coast, and grew up in the local waters and boatyards. Chris has been "messing about in boats" for as long as he can remember. Digging through the local boatyard gravel in search of discarded "Chris-Craft" emblems for his childhood bedroom still brings great memories.

Born the son of a Navy Submariner and Custom Yacht Builder, and the great-grandson of Ralph Evinrude; Chris didn't have much of a choice but to be involved in the marine environment. It's literally, and figuratively in his blood.

Chris has been in the marine industry since 2003, before he even had a learner's permit to drive a vehicle. From 2003-2011 he worked alongside his father, a custom yacht builder by trade. Involved with some of the most talented designers and builders in the sportfish scene, they were doing everything from new vessel construction, to refits of both custom and production vessels, as well as a plethora of different systems and yard-work. They specialized in cold-molded foam core and epoxy construction, but Chris is also well versed in virtually all non-metallic modern boatbuilding materials (wood included), as well as both custom and production boatbuilding processes. Powerboats are what he knows best. Sportfish, hard-chined planing hulls, downeast hulls, etc. Sailing vessels have never been much in his scope of work, however he has worked on several.

Following his father's passing in 2011, Chris continued a legacy of elite craftsmanship, focusing mostly on long term yacht-quality rebuilds of classic production vessel hull skins. Extensive hull modifications and full systems refits were also in his scope of work. Other things including, but not limited to, building commercial fishing vessels, one-off superstructures/parts, pattern making, providing tooling for local production boat builders, as well as consulting and manufacturing composite parts for the United States Department of Defense, have also kept him busy.

Chris has always been the "boat guy" for friends and family in the past, who have been soliciting him for informal inspections on vessels for as long as he can remember. In late 2019, he decided that formal Marine Surveying would be a great career path to go down (although you can never fully take the boatbuilder out of someone!). With a new family, it was time to put the grinders and goo down a bit. In January of 2020, he attended the Chapman School Of Seamanship's "Yacht and Small Craft Surveying" course to learn the business and report writing side of Marine Surveying.

Since graduating, he has become Certified in American Boat and Yacht Council (ABYC) Standards, as well as become a member of the Society of Accredited Marine Surveyors (SAMS) as a Surveyor Associate.
